New series showcases Calgary artists' video
Calgary Herald, Sept. 30, 1988
Nancy Tousley describes Camera Obscura, an artist and volunteer operated project resulting in 12 half-hour video anthologies broadcasted as a collaboration between Calgary video artists and their local access public cable television. The showing of two 10-15 minute videotapes twice a week on television subverts the traditional screening of video art in galleries, thus expanding video art's audience through a mass medium. Producers Colleen Kerr and Nelson Henricks feel that the project is valuable between the government, media and local cultural producers.
