NOW, Apr. 12, 2001, v. 20, no. 32
Deirdre Hanna reviews WIDE, a programming stream that is part of the Images Festival of Independent film and video. Originally conceived by Deirdre Logue, the program seeks to display work that pushes the boundaries of the experimental. The program specializes in installation work, however the it changes its name and mandate annually. Some highlights of WIDE include; Shane Hope's Deaththread Taped To Freezer Framed, Joe Kell's Panorama and David Clark's Chemical Vision to name a few. The work featured in WIDE is one view in several venues including Mercer Union, YYZ, Trinity Square Video and Tape which all feature video-based installations as well as several other venues which feature store front installations.
