Montreal Image & Nation
Montreal Image & Nation, Nov. 11, 1993
An article about the popularity and success of the 6th Annual Montreal Image & Nation Gay and Lesbian film festival during November 1993. The festival featured programs with international moving image media exploring critical issues of identity, gay and lesbian youth, homophobia, safer sex, and the contingencies of AIDS and cancer on queer communities. Among the highlighted premieres are Derek Jarman's Wittgenstein, Christine Parker's Peach, and Ching Sin-Tung and Raymond Lee's The East is Red. Wright and McBride state that activism and involvement in Divers/Cite Pride Parade has produced a queer-positive environment for the hosting of the festival.
