Now You See It, 2002
London: Routledge, 2002
Pidduck examines how shifting local and global circuits of production and distribution has lead to an increased visibility of lesbian/gay and queer film, primarily focusing on Canada, Australia, Europe and America.
Pidduck's essay is organized within four major case studies; lesbian and gay film festivals, activist/ art video, ‘new queer cinema’ and popular genres.
The essay cites gay/ lesbian and queer works from over two decades to explore debates around positive images and transgression, formal innovation and popular genres, the ‘queering’ of lesbian/ gay politics, Aids and activism, sexuality, identity and culture.
