Los Angeles: Bruce Nauman Exhibition at the Nicholas Wilder Gallery
Art International, Summer 1970, v. 14, no. 6, p. 113
A short review of Bruce Nauman's solo show at the Nicholas Wilder Gallery in Los Angeles. The reviewer considers Nauman's art as distinct from purely "conceptual art," instead suggesting a new movement in art recalling the Happenings of the 1960s. The Gallery is divided into two rooms, one displaying thirteen studies for his "controlled environments" and the other segregated into six corridors containing three video cameras and five television moinotrs. The space, according to Nauman, is meant to confuse the manner in which the participant locates him or herself in space. The reviewer describes the work in detail, lauding them as a new direction in art offering much room for future exploration.
