The films of Taka Iimura
Afterimage, Apr. 1978, v. 5, no. 10, pp. 8-11
In this article, Scott MacDonald provides a detailed summary of the film career of Taka Iimura, documenting his shift from erotic imagery to purely formal concerns. While Iimura’s films provide very little in the way of visual pleasure to an audience, using only strips of black and clear leader, when MacDonald describes audience behaviour during a screening he finds that a small percentage of audience members who stayed for the duration of the film were very engaged throughout.
