Open letter from John Greyson to TIFF
Greyzone, Aug. 27, 2009
In this open letter, Greyson states the reasoning behind his withdrawal of his film Covered from TIFF 2009. His protest is directed against TIFF's inaugural City-to-City Spotlight on Tel Aviv. He makes it clear that the target is not Jewish Israeli films and filmmakers, but the politicized frame of the program which excludes shorts/docs/indie works by underground Israeli and Palestinians and is insensitive to the current situation of Gaza, where Tel Aviv's displaced Palestinians now live.
