4th New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film Festival: Focus on Black Gay Men
Fuse, Jan. Winter 1991, v. 14, no. 3, pp. 33-36
A critical review of key films in the Focus on Black Gay Men portion of the 4th New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film Festival.
Author Jody Benjamin, posits that "there is a gap between those films which attempt complex portraits of Black subjects and those that objectify and tokenize" (33).
Further, Benjamin is concerned that the festival's focus implies a change in attitude toward Black gay men that does not yet match up to reality.
