Video Installation: Paul Kos and the Sculptured Monitor
Arts Magazine, Nov. 1975, v. 50, no. 3, pp. 64-66
H. Junker surveys the work of Paul Kos, engaging with the installation legacy of artists such as Nam June Paik and Dennis Oppenheim, positing that a video installation is virtually synonymous with sculptural environment. Kos approaches his video work by providing supplementary information as well as designing the space in which the video is displayed. Developing stylistic elements within his videos and placing importance on sound, Kos creates a sensory experience for the viewer, presenting video in sculptural terms on a dual level: in the rich and elaborate video, and the space of display itself.
