"Specific Strategies in Slovene Video Art Production in the Present Post-socialist period" explores the emergence of the distinct Slovene video production in the '80s, that was unlike the national unifying style. Video became the appropriate medium to express radical views of the new generation that came along during the punk and gay cultural movements. Unlike the West, Slovenian video artists lack the support and recognition by private and public institutions, festivals, and distribution. "At the end of the century, in the so-called post-socialist countries, video has developed into a specific "viewer," enabling us to read history, to see through the surface of the image, and maybe to perceive the future."
