The Georgia Straight, May 14, 1993, p. 34
"Unendurable Boredom Not Part of This Show" is a review discussing the works of two of Vancouver's foremost video artists, Cornelia Wyngaarden and Mike MacDonald. Wygaarden's Forged Subjectivity consists of an installation including video monitors, blacklit photo-transparencies, paintings, text, and audiotapes, exploring notions of the self, gender, and constructed identities. Macdonald's Secret Flowers consists of a sixteen screen video wall displaying a single channel video. Secret Flowers emphasizes "rare and endangered indigenous plants as a metaphor for the cultural practice of indigenous peoples" (34). Laurence states, "Like MacDonald, Wyngaarden manages to be highly politicized without resorting to didacticism (34).
