"...Will be Televised: Video Documents from Asia," coordinated and produced by Shu Lea Cheang, is a survey of independent video work from Asian countries that screeend at the Los Angeles Festival (September 1-16). Five curated one-hour video programs are discussed, which offer indigenous media perspectives of Asian nations, and portrayals of the aspirations and and struggles of Asian peoples.
Claire Aguilar states, ""...Will be Televised" is a valuable document of the breadth and urgency of alternative media activity in Asia. One hopes that it will inspire additional efforts to circulate work promoting press freedom and democracy in developing countries" (19).
