This essay, in a self-published book of Kika Nicolela's work, describes and contextualizes the multi-media piece Tropic of Capricorn. Using photography, video and video installation Nicolela documents four Sao Paulo transexual sex workers in the hotel where most of them work. The essay describes the piece as touching on issues of fear and desire, as well as the relationship between space, perception, and spectatorship.
