In this article, author Fred Barzyk discusses "the potential of television as an art form" (21). Barzyk is interested in particular with experimental television art in public tv stations across the U.S. He offers a review of artist-in-residency programs at broadcast stations in San Francisco, Boston and New York and speaks about some of the programs produced by these stations and their artists. Over the course of the article, Barzyk reflects on video and television as a developing artistic form and movement.
