Paul Wong: Prime Cuts
Video Guide, 1981, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 5-7
The article "Paul Wong: Prime Cuts" presents a review by Julie Healey and an interview by Elizabeth Chitty. Healey writes a scathing critique on Paul Wong's video Prime Cuts, questioning the artist's motivations. "In these terms, I see Paul's tape as a very negative, disturbing piece of work and I again ask the question, 'Why did Paul make this tape?'" (6) Chitty's interview with Wong dealt with: the use of popular culture, approach of meaning, artificiality, style and content, ambience instead of formal perspective, as well as product and the market in Prime Cuts. Chitty also proved to be critical, although less harsh, as she writes, "I know that 'Prime Cuts', to use your words, is about style, sexuality and technology but I don't find anything said about these things."
