Rune

by Karen Knights and Randy & Berenicci

Video Guide, 1986, v. 8, no. 2, pp. 10-11

Karen Knights reviews "Rune," a multimedia installation by Randy & Berenicci: work installed in the Park Place financial building as part of "Luminous Sites," a larger exhibition of Canadian video art in Vancouver. The installation consists of constructed forms that incorporate looped videos on monitors. Navigating the installation from above a commercial city district, viewers become interpreters amongst linguistic "ruins"--a play on the title of the work--whose fragmented parts are assembled from various sources of popular and mass media. Viewers become crucial mediators between the myths and truths in mass communications.
