Mike Hoolboom In Conversation With Lisa Steele and Kim Tomczak
One Hour Empire, Summer 2010, no. 3, pp. 24-27
Mike Hoolboom interviews Lisa Steele and Kim Tomczak about their collaboration in a series of "city portraits featuring precisely framed architectural moments" (p.25) in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Berlin. In order to provide a pause from the architectural images jokes punctuate the cityscapes, and allow the viewer to process the imagery. Through the work the artists parallel their urban environment with the processes of human life.
