Digging for Identity
Afterimage, Jan. Winter 2000, v. 27, no. 4, p. 6
Digging for Identity records Bulgaria’s first international film festival VideoArchaeology, where the theme invited artists to “speculate on the archaeological image of the present”. The article describes Bulgaria’s technical and economic obstacles that hinder the work of media artists, as well as Bulgaria being ignored by the art world never being invited to participate in major festivals like the Venice Biennale. The author continues to describe the work of many international artists to this first time international film festival as well as the well represented work of the local Bulgarians.
