Life Like It: Some Halifax Video
Video Guide, Sept. 1986, v. 8, no. 38, p. 13
Robin Metcalfe reviews Life Like It, a touring exhibition of Halifax videos. Metcalfe notes that Halifax, dealing with social issues ranging from a marginalized regional economy, nuclear subs (in the habour) and chronic housing shortages, makes it difficult for artists to create a genuine popular culture, consistently stuck between mass and elite cultures. The article highlights the various artists/works that are part of the exhibit, and notes the importance of this show, to "help locate Halifax on the cultural map."
