Artists Call: Against U.S. Intervention in Latin America
Video Guide, Mar. 1984, v. 6, no. 2, p. 4
Jeannine Mitchell reviews two short documentaries, Manzana Por Manzana (dir. John Greyson, Eric Schultz, Mary Anne Yanulis) and Tiempo de Guerre (dir. Nicaragua Solidarity Networkers). Manzana Por Manzana focuses on collective farms, the agrarian reform program, and the ongoing conflict between locals and the U.S.-backed Contras group in Nicaragua. Tiempo de Guerre, which was originally produced as a news brief for the Nicaraguan government, focuses on differing opinions on U.S. intervention in Nicaragua. In her review, Jeanne Mitchell tries to reconcile the political and artistic merits of each documentary.
