In Scotland, experimental art faces challenges within the country's art community because of its lack of marketability, and inherent political positioning. Dickson is the editor of Variant Magazine, which is one of the limited forums for experimental art along with Transmission and EventSpace. The article briefly discusses a few art projects by Scottish artists who have pushed some of the bureaucratic difficulties in order to exhibit their work.
