Video and the Vth International Conference on AIDS: Accessibility or Abstraction?
Video Guide, Fall 1989, v. 10, no. 48, pp. 14-15
Video plays an important role not only as a socio-cultural/socio-political communication tool, but as a tool for AIDS activism. During the Vth International Conference on AIDS, organizers sought to include an interdisciplinary approach in order to have a greater international presence, and address AIDS as a global epidemic. Morrison summarizes, "Although video as an aesthetic practice related to AIDS was not specifically discussed during the conference of SIDART; video, as mentioned, has been primordial in the cultural visualisation and verbalisation of AIDS."
