The Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal sought to question and explore the relationship between video art and music videos through their Music Video show. The videos in the exhibition offered a crititical commentary on pop music and its relevance to audiences. In Rinike Dijkstra's Annemiek a teenager lip-synched to a Backstreet Boys song. This piece amomg several others, functioned as a critique on the impact of exploitation and moulding of young audiences.
