Ming Wong
ArtReview, Apr. 2010, no. 40, pp. 68, 70-71
This article looks at the work of Ming Wong, an artist who creates video work which interacts with cinema and the movies he has seen throughout his life. In Life and Death in Venice, Wong recreates Luchino Visconti's homoerotic film Death in Venice through two videos, allowing him to play both main characters as they walk through Venice. Wong also chooses to play all roles himself in other works, and often allows elements of his own life to inform the characters.
