Cinema of Prayoga: A Theory Under Construction

The cinematic concept of Prayoga, developed by an Indian film scholar, curator and writer Amrit Gangar, was aimed at substituting and expanding for the long-established and universally accepted Euro-American notion of the Experimental Film. In this essay, Gangar thoroughly examines the concept of Prayoga, providing a reader with the relevant socio-cultural interpretation of the film and video scene in India.
