The moving image: Looped, to be Mukt!: The Cinema Prayoga Conscience
Moving Image Review & Art Journal (MIRAJ), Sept. 20 Fall, 2012, v. 1, no. 2
Cinema of Prayoga is a theory of filmic practice that challenges the dominant forms of filmic expression in contemporary India, including the all-pervading commercial Bollywood movie or the social realism of Indian New Wave. By exploring the political, social and cultural environment of contemporary India, Gangar provides an interpretative framework for understanding the radical evolution of Indian film. He also explores the influences of American video art on Indian independent cinema.
