Fringe Experientiality
Public, 2002, v. 25, pp. 130-142
The author examines fringe film and video from a phenomenological perspective, arguing that existential phenomenology, along with the affect theory, provide the most "useful" way to understand the "tensions" inherent in the works of marginal media. He examines the notion of "the times" and its political and social agents, as well as the notion of "experientiality" and the "avant-garde" on the grounds of Canadian social history.
