Imagining the Arab World: The Fashioning of the "War on Terror" through Art
Callaloo, Fall 2009, v. 32, no. 4, pp. 1223-1231
Farhat describes an increased interest in the Arab world by those in the Western art scene over the last decade in the form of more exhibitions held in museums, commercial galleries, and nonprofit art space. These exhibitions are often used to explore the Arab World and Islam from a perspective oriented by the Western political lens, largely informed by the shifts in global affairs in recent years. Farhat explores these changes by looking at the history of Arab art pre and post 2001.
