This article looks at a recent series of works by multimedia performance artist Coco Fusco: "Bare Life Study #1" (2005). "A Room of One's Own: Women and Power in New America" (2005), and "Operation Atropos" (2006). These works are thoughtful, generative, and complex responses to the U.S. military's use of torture that take into account questions of gender in confronting these issues.
