IMPAKT events presents: Daniel Cockburn
Daniel Cockburn has been making short films and videos since 1999; combining narrative-film storytelling with video-art experimentation, they have been screened at over 80 festivals and galleries worldwide.
Impakt's workshop and presentation on scriptwriting in 2011 delves into the importance of scriptwriting to the making of experimental and independent films and videos as well as the ways to use text in film and video that goes beyond the conception of dialogue. The work of Daniel Cockburn features heavily in the workshop, particularly an examination of drafts and scripts, as well as an excerpt from his feature film "You are Here."
In his anti-artist talk, titled "All the Mistakes I've Made," Cockburn delves into the aesthetic and ideological mistakes that he has made, building on these to to examine what he sees as a negative trend in contemporary art and cinema that is evidenced by his inability to properly judge.
