Laure Prouvost: Incorrect Syntax
Millennium Film Journal, Fall 2012, v. 56, pp. 62-65
The author describes the experience of viewing a Laure Prouvost film: a combination of words and photos with a distinct DIY and disjoined quality, a series of clues and fragments that never cement into narrative coherence and disorient the viewer. Prouvost's work explores language at the point of failure and the issues and miscommunications that can arise, and critiques the authority of language by undermining its dominance. The author explores Prouvost's interest in language by describing and analyzing two projects: OWT and The Artist.
