The re-emergence of the film/video loop
Millenium Film Journal, Spring 2012, v. 55, pp. 30-39
The author describes the current prominence of the audio-visual media loop in contemporary art museums and connects this to the advances in electronic digital media. In 2011 the characteristics of the structural film movement (1960's-70's), especially the loop, have become ubiquitous. The loop is explored in its contemporary and historical form, with attention paid to the technology that has evolved to permit the resurgence of the loop.
