Zaprudered: The Kennedy Assassination Film in Visual Culture, 2011, pp. 46-68
Austin, TX: University of Texas Press, 2011
Vagnes analyzes the Ant Farm and T.R. Uthco collaboration video, The Eternal Frame, as it relates to the Zapruder footage of John F. Kennedy's assassination, which served as its inspiration. This essay looks at the importance of performance, medium, memory and exhibition practices which all go into making The Eternal Frame work as a quotation, critique and elegy of the reality of the past and its oft-repeated image which exists in the present.
