Declining Democracy
C Magazine, Summer 2012, no. 114, pp. 57-58
A review of the twelve-artist show titled Declining Democracy that exhibited at the Centro di Cultura Contemporanea Strozzina, Florence, Italy, from September 23rd, 2011 to January 22nd, 2012. The show was a reflection on the current state of democracy and the values that shape our concepts of democracy today. The show included video works such as Artur Zmijewski's multi-channel Democracies and Buuuuuuuuu Collective's interactive One Minute Smile Against Berlusconi. Article author Emmy Skensved concludes that the pieces in this show demonstrate that democracy is not a given, but rather a participatory process, constantly in flux.
