Videoscape
Toronto Ontario: Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), 1974
The exhibition catalogue Videoscape was produced to accompany the first major survey of video art in Canada, held at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in 1974, and curated by Peggy Gale. The catalogue contains a forward written by William C. Forsey, the Director of Education at the AGO, an introduction by Marty Dunn, and includes the essays "a new medium" by Peggy Gale, and "echoes from Videospace" by Garry Neil Kennedy, which give an overview of the exhibition, and discuss the trends and tropes in video art in Canada during the medium's early years.
The catalogue contains an extensive overview of Canadian video artists from across the country, as well as a few international artists significant to the development of the medium in the 1970s. In addition to a list of tapes screened during the exhibition, the catalogue provides information about each artist and their work. The catalogue also includes a bibliography listing readings and books written on video art from 1970 to 1974.
