Dwelling
Art AsiaPacific, Oct 2015
Review of an exhibition of the work of Yuan Goang-Ming, who has worked with video since the late 1980s. Using long takes to depict dystopian scenes closely linked to reality, Goang-Ming creates moods of foreboding and familiarity with his three video works. Yuan's work explores these themes in different Taiwanese settings: a bourgeois living room; a coastal nuclear power plant; and the legislative chamber. All three spaces are deserted, yet give evidence of the recent presence of human life.
