Liquide Commune, Part 1
Art AsiaPacific, Mar/Apr 2012, no. 77
Review of a solo exhibition of South Korean artist Minouk Kim. This first of a two-part exhibition featured a collection of videos of performances that are staged, but are actually reenactments of events that the artist witnessed. By recreating events of the past now forgotten and considered unimportant by most in the present, Kim summons the past into collective memory. The artist works to reveal rapid change in the modern world not in efforts to slow it, but to take note of its pace and reflect.
