Crowds Project
Poolside, 2003, pp. 44-51
Winnipeg: Video Pool Inc., 2003
A review of the Crowds Project at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. For the author the subject of each of the four videos chosen for the project is the living city. The author draws from urbanist William H. Whyte, who theorized the types of activities that will draw a crowd.
The videos were projected on an exterior wall of a building. Whereas usually video is shown in a darkened room, Johnson muses on the effect of video becoming a part of the urban landscape.
