Television, Outmoded Technologies, and the Work of Lana Lin

by Maeve Connolly

Moving Image Review & Art Journal (MIRAJ), 2013, v. 2, no. 2, pp. 283-289

Maeve Connolly brings a new perspective on television in the course of art history through a consideration of three video works by Lana Lin. Connoly argues that Lin's work doesn't frame television as an outmoded medium like other work does, but responds to its multifaceted temporality. Thus, television becomes a viable cultural object that is not only tied to the past but also bound up to the future.
