Kristin L. Dowell discusses how the utilization of animation as opposed to live action allows for an enactment of Indigenous futurism, widening the scope of indigenous film and simultaneously criticizing the methods that indigenous people have been depicted in the past. This article offers a close reading and detailed account of two films. Indigo (2014) and Four Faces of the Moon (2016). Dowell reads the significance and symbolism of certain sequences and offers embedded clips from both films discussed.
