In this article, Steven Ball reviews Matthew Perkins' book Video Void, Australian Video Art. At the beginning of the article, Steven introduces several Australian moving image-based publications and organizations. Then he explains the word "void" in the title, is referring to the lack of image art culture in Australia. The book, which is composed of six chapters, was written by long-standing Australian experts in the field. After a brief summary of Video Void, he then discusses each chapter individually in each paragraph. In conclusion, the author draws his concern on the relationship of Australian new media art and the national culture, specifically with the postcolonial Australian culture.
