In this article, Watter reviews Lorna Mills' GIF art and situates it into the history of arts by comparing formal similarities and differences to pre-1910 cinema, and - more extensively - painting.
He also describes (and celebrates) Mill's work as "ugly," and argues the aesthetic and ethical motivations that underlie the artist's use of "ugliness" as a strategy.
