A review on 'Before and After the Horizon: Anishinaabe Artists of the Great Lakes' at the Art Gallery of Ontario and 'The Plains Indian: Artists of Earth and Sky' at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The review contextualizes the history of Indigenous art within art showcases, with regards to how Indigenous art is sometimes displayed as if "extinct" or without the inclusion of Indigenous curators. It also questions the work of including contemporary work within historical shows and the insinuation of Indigenous peoples and their art always being seen as Other.
