Crip Horizons: Disability Art Futurism by Sean Lee
Toronto: Akimbo (web), 2019
The article provides an orientation to disability and disability art, and draws attention to the awareness of disability in a visual sense, avoiding discrimination against disabled people. Lee situates his discussion in the context of a pervasively ableist social world, asserting that disability provides people with new perceptions of the world in terms of the relationship between art and disability.
"Its place as the last avant-garde simultaneously stratifies disability art within the canon and outside as a force propelling it to new and exciting places that have otherwise stagnated" (Sean Lee).
