Curatorial Incubator v. 18: Learning from the Local

by Lisa Steele

Toronto: V tape, 2022

ISBN 978-1-7779215-1-4

This programme catalogue was produced in conjunction with Vtape's 2022 Curatorial Incubator, Learning From The Local, and was co-presented by Vtape and Niagara Artists Centre (NAC). The three progammes, selected and developed by three curators through the Curatorial Incubator, speak to the notion of "the local" in three distinct ways: Delilah Rosier's program considers "alternative actions and attitudes", Marvin Veloso considers "queer spaces" around the city of Toronto, and Connor Wilkes explores the role of Sheridan College in encouraging non-fiction and experimental non-fiction filmmaking, leading to the formation of "The Escarpment School" of filmmakers; and the city's invisible sectors and missing memories.

Contents:

Cruising Circuits, and Other Slippery Landscapes: Queer(ing) Resistance in Toronto Video Art, curatorial essay by Marvin Veloso;

Across the Escarpment, curatorial essay by Connor Wilkes;

What Do Mean You Don't Love Me? Or, How to Stop Worrying and Get in the Tub, curatorial essay by Delilah Rosier;
