ISBN 9780888849977

This book accompanies the exhibition Àbadakone | Continous Fire | Feu continuel shown at the National Gallery of Canada in 2019-2020. Àbadakone is the second exhibition in a series at the National Gallery showcasing contemporary Indigenous Art from Around the World. The exhibition featured the work of 70 creators curated by Rachelle Dickenson, Greg A. Hill, and Christine Lalonde. In the book the various contributors reflect on the exhibition and draw connections between the featured creators. The curators identify three key concepts that thread through the show, including relatedness, continuity, and activation. The exhibition prioritizes collaborative and generative practices that explore how knowledge is shared in and beyond the gallery.
