Catalogue accompanying the 2007 multi-venue exhibition Almost Fallen, Shown at Urban Shaman Gallery August 2 to September 15, 2007 and Cambridge Galleries Queen’s Square from March 29 to May 4, 2008, Almost Fallen "addresses mediated perceptions of First Nations’ identity and the artist appropriates media constructed stereotypes of the ‘Indian’ to question our assumptions and expectations. The artist uses her art making as a means of communicating dignity, humanity and humour." (Quote taken from gallery website.) Catalogue includes photographic documentation of the works in the exhibition, including The Shirt, a sequence of nine photo-transparencies in light boxes. The photo-transparencies show Niro's friend and artist Hulleah J. Tsinhahjinnie (with the exception of the last photo in the series- which features Tsinhahjinnie's wife Veronica Passalacqua) wearing a t-shirt which reads: "My ancestors were annihilated, exterminated, murdered and massacred. They were lied to, cheated, tricked and deceived. Attempts were made to assimilate, colonize, enslave and displace them. And all I get is this shirt." The catalogue also includes Niro’s pieces Journey, La Pieta: Infinite View, Tree, Rechargin’, and Surrender Nothing Always.
