"Artists with Their work" Program
Toronto: Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), 1991
This specific catalogue provides background profiles on several artists, accepted by the AGO's program "Artists with Their Work".
"In operation since 1997, the 'Artists with Their Work' Program of the Art Gallery of Ontario's Extension Services department was initiated in response to requests from art galleries in Ontario for exhibitions of important contemporary art. The Program continues to fulfill this mandate in communities in all areas of the province. In its first year, as a pilot program under the title, 'Special Project: The Artist with His Work, A New Way of Presenting Sculpture,' 11 sculptors were available for exhibitions and personal appearances in Ontario communities. By the following year, the program was expanded to include artists working in the media of painting, printmaking, drawing and film, and shortly afterward, additions to the roster were made in the areas of photography, video, performance and holography. In 1972 the program was permanently incorporated into the offerings of the 'Artists with Their Work' Program." -- From the first page of the catalogue.
