Slow Dance
Canadian Art, Summer 1998, v. 15, no. 2, p. 72
This article is a brief review of an exhibition featuring Dutch installation artist Aernout Mik. The article examines Kitchen, a video of 3 elderly men wrestling within the confines of an Ikea-inspired kitchen. The men represent different class backgrounds and their conflict is the result of the co-existence of public and private, individual and collective--the formalized chaos of the piece becomes a study of the remains of the Western social welfare state.
