A little about us

Vtape is a non-profit, arts-oriented video distributor that represents contemporary and historical work by an enormous diversity of Canadian and international artists, from world-famous media and visual artists to new and emerging figures. All rights for the works we distribute are retained by the artist. We work collaboratively with our artists on an ongoing basis to determine the most effective distribution strategy for their work, and are mandated to secure fees for any exhibition or licensing of the works in our collection, with 70% of all revenues earned returned to the artist. We specialize in services to institutions and organizations that exhibit and acquire video artworks. Want to know even more? Visit our Distribution for Artists page

Not sure if Vtape is the right home for your work?

We provide a permanent home for your work: we’ll ensure it is maintained and continues to be made available to arts professionals, educators, and audiences into the future. Vtape’s collection proudly represents many works by artists from Indigenous, Black, POC, Queer, LGBTQ+, and Deaf and Disabled communities. For emerging artists, it provides a cultural context for your artworks alongside brand-new videos and canonical classics alike. Have a look at the list of Vtape artists and at the titles in our catalog to see if Vtape looks like the right home for your work.

Want your work previewed by curators, educators, programmers?

If your work is at Vtape, it becomes available for preview by curators, festival programmers, writers, and researchers from around the world.
